Overview


BKG® pelletizers are used globally in resin production, compounding, and recycling, while BKG® gear pumps and screen changers are applied in these processes and in all types of polymer extrusion. Our Münster, Germany technology center is equipped with a variety of pelletizers and melt delivery components, including underwater and water ring pelletizers, melt delivery components, process water filtration systems, pellet dryers, and diverter valves. A BKG® jet cleaner reduces the time between trial runs by rapidly cleaning parts such as breaker plates. The extensive range of equipment options available in these laboratories makes it possible for you to test various alternatives for solving production problems or adopting new processes.

Another pelletizing option that can be trialed is Nordson’s proprietary patented process, called CrystallCut®, which substantially reduces energy consumption in PET pelletizing by using the thermal energy of the molten polymer for subsequent crystallization.

Overview


Extrusion processors and web converters have the ability to carry out product development and process testing without the high raw material costs and lost output of trial runs on their own commercial-scale equipment. 

Our Chippewa Falls lab utilizes analytical tools to provide customers with a full summary of trial findings. This includes equipment for analyzing film and sheet thickness, software for cross-sectional analysis, moisture measurement, and drying resins. 

In addition to the equipment used for lab trials, our laboratory completes rheological testing, which is used to ensure our equipment is built to the specifications necessary to provide the expected performance of your end product. 

Trial Capabilities
  • Six-Extruder Sheet Pilot Line - this line may be configured for a variety of processing parameters, including monolayer, coextruded, or multiplied sheet
  • Four-Extruder Cast Film & Sheet Line - this line is capable of producing small proof-of-concept samples of monolayer, coextruded, or multiplied film or sheet
  • Slot Coating Line - this line may be used for ambient temperature coating trials or with the installed Nordson VersaBlue® melter for hot melt, water-based, or solvent-based adhesive trials
