BKG® Die Plates & Cutter Hubs | Underwater Pelletizing Systems

BKG® Die Plates & Cutter Hubs | Underwater Pelletizing Systems

We design and manufacture BKG® die plates and cutter hubs for underwater and pelletizing systems that are available in various types and sizes.

Overview - BKG® Die Plates

The die plate is the pelletizing system's heart and soul, and its design dramatically influences the pellets' shape and quality. With innovative milling technology and years of experience, we provide die plate designs for various processes and materials with one goal - to produce perfect pellets for trouble-free further processing and fantastic end products.

Medium Heated Die Plates

The die plate temperature has a significant influence on the pelletizing process. Viscosity changes due to temperature differences at the die plate impact the pellet size and uniformity. With our medium heated die plates, you gain more control over the die plate temperature and successfully process temperature-sensitive polymers.

  • Suitable especially for temperature-sensitive polymers
  • Perfect heat distribution through circulating heating medium and efficient insulation
  • Different row arrangements and nest designs are available
  • Our chosen heating options for medium and large die plates
  • Increased application windows through the use of die plate plugs

Pressure Reduced Die Plates

The pelletizing step in a polymer processing system is usually the last in line. It is common a large portion of the available pressure to have already been consumed by the upstream components when the melt reaches the die plate. This can significantly impact the size distribution and uniformity of the pellets. We offer die plate designs that require lower pressure while ensuring excellent pellet quality.

  • Die plate with shortened melt channels for reduced pressure loss
  • Suitable especially for high-viscosity materials and highly filled compounds
  • Additional pressure increase through die plate plugs

Advanced Equipment Protection

When corrosion could be an issue

  • Maximum knife protection through carefully arranged die plate holes
  • Optional coatings for increased wear resistance
  • Unique protection concept against extremely corrosive additives such as Brome

Our Options For Your Success

When things get special

  • Multi-faceted row arrays to fit your process perfectly
  • Different nest designs for pellets in a broad range of shapes and sizes, including micropellets
  • Unique die plate design for the most efficient pelletizing of PET

Inspection & Grinding

To have optimal production conditions, BKG® die plates can be ground several times before you will need a replacement part.

With the unique BKG® grinding tool, you can realize considerable time savings. The device is screwed on the pelletizer instead of the cutter hub. Once coupled to the water box, the regrinding mechanism regrinds your die plate in just a couple of minutes. Thus, the complete dismounting and mounting of the die plate are no longer necessary.
