- Less dust during transportation of spherical pellets
- Smaller contact areas of spherical pellets reduces stickiness
- Almost all viscosities can be processed with UWP (approx. 3 Pas to 10.000 Pas)
- Production of micro pellets
- Automated system with constant product quality, independent on operators
- Closed system with clean environment
- Flexible footprint, less space “in line”

FAQs
-
Q: What is a pelletizer?A: A pelletizer is a machine that turns your material into small pellets. Three types of pelletizers are available in the market: Underwater pelletizers (as developed by BKG®), water-ring pelletizers, and strand pelletizers. Depending on the type of pelletizer, the pellet shapes range from spherical to rounded but flat to cylindrical, with flat 90° edges. The pelletizers in our collection are for use with thermoplastics and other polymers that behave similarly.
-
Q: What are the benefits of choosing an underwater pelletizer?A: By forming the pellets underwater, this process typically reduces imperfections and increases the quality of the pellets produced. Additionally, the pellets are maneuvered with care, reducing dust and creating a cleaner output that is easier to process. Pellets produced on an underwater pelletizer have the highest bulk density and best flow characteristics.
-
Q: Where do pelletizers fit in the extrusion process?A: Pelletizing is a step that comes before the extrusion process. It is the process of creating the pellets that eventually get melted and extruded. Before pelletizing, screen changers are used to filter contaminants out of the molten polymer.
-
Q: Does pelletizing work for polymer compounding?A: Yes, pelletizing is a method of polymer compounding. Pelletizing can enable you to mix non-plastics (like wood, for example) with polymers to create new materials, such as a polymer board used for outdoor decking. This type of polymer compounding is often used to create recycled products, for example benches that are made from recycled bottles; the bottles would be melted and compounded with another material to give the bench a “concrete” or “wooden” look.
