The BKG® FlexDisc™ filter stack is a filtration medium for the filtration of contaminated polymer melt, allowing for a significantly enlarged filtration area without increasing the machine size and weight.

Overview


The patented BKG® FlexDisc™ replaces the standard screen in the filter cavities of piston-type melt filters, substantially enlarging the filtration area without needing a bigger machine while decreasing the melt loss caused by backflushing.

The prolonged lifetime of the filtration medium and the reduced specific backflush volume save waste and costs.

Realize filtration finenesses of 20µm and lower - a perfect fit for high-quality end products, like, e.g., battery separator film.

Suitable Applications

Bottle-2-Bottle Recycling


Bottle flake feedstock includes considerable amounts of contaminants such as labels, metals, paper, wood, and plastics other than PET. To reach high levels of purity, so-called virgin-like rPET, these substances must be filtered out by the screen changer equipped with an appropriate filtration medium. The BKG® FlexDisc™ is the perfect fit for fine filtration levels.

PET Fiber Production


A filtration fineness of 25 to 30 μm is essential for Bottle-to-Fiber applications to extend the working life of the screen packs on the spinning line. A young, healthy human eye cannot distinguish particles finer than 50μm. The BKG FlexDisc ensures the highest filtration stages.

Battery Separator Film Production


The BKG FlexDisc improves the melt quality by providing fine filtration down to 20µm and finer eliminating any disruptive factors in the film. Smooth production runs that don't require operator intervention avoid disturbances that could lead to end product defects.
