Spokane Valley, WA, USA – 1 June 2017 – Nordson SELECT, a Nordson company (NASDAQ: NDSN), is pleased to announce that Thomas Preuhs GmbH has implemented selective soldering equipment from Nordson SELECT to replace a traditional wave soldering process. “Thomas Preuhs GmbH has determined that a selective soldering is not only less expensive than wave soldering, but selective soldering also allows them to meet customer requirements with significantly more flexibility,” commented Florian Strohmayer, Applications Development Manager of Nordson SELECT.
An economic analysis of through-hole soldering has determined selective soldering not only saves money compared to wave soldering, but can react with greater flexibly to the needs of customers
often with an identical cycle time when considering all secondary operations. The operating costs of selective soldering compared to wave soldering will reduce the average running costs by as much as five times because of: reduced solder consumption, no cleaning of solder pallets or masks, less use of electricity, reduced flux consumption, no additional taping or masking, less rework compared with wave soldering, and no cleaning of soldered PCBs.
