EFD is committed to supporting the sustainability goals of our customers.

Recyclable materials

Our standard Optimum components are made from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), both of which are recyclable plastics.

Sustainable products from renewable sources

Our Optimum ECO (Figure 1) line of sustainably sourced dispensing components uses biopolyethylene made from sugarcane stock, rather than byproducts of the petrochemical industry. These materials boast a 94% to 96% bio-based content rating. Because they are plant based, they have significantly smaller carbon footprints than petroleum-based resins. And like petrochemical polyethylene, biopolyethylene is recyclable.

The Optimum ECO dispensing component system was developed in response to customer demand for more eco-friendly supplies to support their sustainability initiatives. The product line includes syringe barrels, pistons, end caps, and tip caps.
