Product Branding


The method of identifying Nordson products varies depending on the type and size of each product. The most common labeling methods are silk screening directly on the product, etching directly into the product or into metal plates attached to the product, and printing on adhesive-backed labels that are secured to the product.


The Nordson logo should be prominently displayed on all products (either on its own or in combination with the product logotype). Only electronic or camera-ready artwork should be used to reproduce the logo on products.

Nordson product logos can be produced using one of the two approved formats: Standardized or Stylized 

1. STANDARDIZED PRODUCT LOGOS:

Standardized logos help present a consistent and cohesive family of product nameplates across Nordson's diverse product line:

COLORS

Nordson blue, white, black, silver and gray tones, in the Corporate color palette, are recommended for use on all products. It is not recommended to use accent, neutral or light color palettes. When applying the logo to light color backgrounds, it is recommended to apply the logo in Nordson blue and black. When applying the logo to dark color backgrounds, it is recommended to apply the logo in all white.

PRODUCT NAME IDENTIFIERS

A product’s name generally consists of two to three elements: the product line (i.e. ASYMTEK, DAGE, YESTECH, etc. This element is mostly confined to our ELECTRONICS SOLUTIONS businesses), the product family (i.e. a product brand or model name such as "Prodigy" or "7500NT") and a general product description. These are often referred to as primary and secondary identifiers.

Be sure to apply all applicable trademark registrations in accordance with guidelines set forth by Nordson Legal Department.

FONTS & SIZES

The Product Line name appears in the Source Sans Pro Bold font using all caps lettering at 28 point size. The Product Family name appears in the Source Sans Pro Regular font using upper and lower case lettering at 28 point size. 

The general product description is an optional element. It appears in the Source Sans Pro Bold font using upper and lower case lettering at 9 point size. When applied, it should always align flush left below the marketing name.

The above font sizes were determined based on using a Nordson logo at 100% size. Once the logo art is created, it can be scaled to any size (as a group). The above numbers are meant to describe the size when initially building the product logo.

Additional product information (such as serial numbers and company location) appears in the Source Sans Pro Regular font using upper and lowercase. This information is typically placed on labels or plates, which should be visually isolated from the product name and logo.

SPACING

The same spacing is applied as identified with the same Nordson logo. The height of the Nordson logo is considered a 1x space. That same space is used to determine:
         - The space above, below, left and right of the logo. This space ensures there is enough buffer available between other elements and the logo.
         - The space in between the Nordson logo and the product name logotype.
         - Half of this space is used to determine the space between the product name logotype and the description.

When using a Nordson sub brand logo (like Nordson ELECTRONICS SOLUTIONS), the spacing between the logo and the product name logotype is based on the very bottom of the logo.

2. STYLIZED PRODUCT LOGOS:

Stylized product logos and logotypes are permitted, but they must adhere to the following design parameters:

  • Fonts: Use sans serif style font. Source Sans Pro, Arial or similar are acceptable.
  • Colors: Nordson blue, gray, black and white are the only acceptable colors. They can be used individually or in combination.

LOGO USAGE


Logos should be placed in the upper left hand corner of the product. The Nordson logo and the product name logotype can be separated into two elements if space is limited. In this instance, it is recommended that the Nordson logo is placed in the upper left corner, while the product name logotype is placed in the upper right corner. Refer to the examples section below for more details.

In cases of small products with extremely limited space, these guidelines may be modified as required. A common sense approach that ensures a clear Nordson identity on the product should prevail.

Product Branding Approval Process
Product marketing is a highly visible element of the Nordson brand and it is crucial that it is always managed and applied in a clear and consistent manner. As such, product development teams and their managers should ensure that these guidelines are considered as an integral part of the product development process and coordinate with their LOB marketing communications team for input. In addition, LOB marketing communications teams must submit product illustrations or schematics to corporate communications for brand review prior to finalization for production.


Product Line Logotypes
The Nordson ELECTRONICS SOLUTIONS sub-brand utilizes a set of stylized logotypes for the purpose of identifying and differentiating each discrete product line. Approved use cases are as follows:

  • Trade shows
  • Web sites
  • Brochures
  • Data sheets

The logotypes are approved for use only in a supportive / subordinate role. They should never be used to as a main identifier to describe or otherwise identify a Nordson line of business. Product Colors


For products, Nordson blue, silver and the corporate color palette are generally recommended. Nordson's Accent and Neutral color palettes are typically not recommended for use on products.

The RAL color system is commonly used for product colors in Europe and other parts of the world. RAL equivalents for selected Nordson colors are as follows:

Nordson blue Pantone 3005 = RAL-K1 5015

Silver Pantone Metallic 877 = RAL K1 9022

Gray Pantone 7544 = RAL-K1 7046

Gloss should be 55%
