Heritage & Innovation in Precision Engineering
Nordson Corporation was founded in 1954 in Amherst, Ohio, by brothers Eric and Evan Nord. However, the Nordson story can be traced back as far as 1909, when the U.S. Automatic Company, which specialized in automotive screw machine parts, was founded.
After adapting to support US defense during World War II by developing precision-engineered critical components, Eric and Evan Nord decided to look to future-proof their business again with a proprietary product. Nordson began as a division of U.S. Automatic Corporation in 1954, ready to make the most of a patent for the “hot airless” coating method.
Despite its phenomenal growth, Nordson is still proud of its Ohio roots today, and its current headquarters in Westlake.

Our Segments and Divisions
Nordson Corporation is organized into three global operating segments: Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), Medical and Fluid Solutions (MFS), and Industrial Precision Solutions (IPS). Our divisions can all be organized within these segments.
Advanced Technology Solutions
Our Advanced Technology Solutions segment specializes in equipment manufacturing solutions for the electronics industry, for the production of automotive electronics, semiconductors, printed circuit boards, and more critical electronic components.
There are several divisions within this segment, each with distinct specialties:
- Electronics Solutions develops precision technologies for conformal coating, fluid dispensing, selective soldering, and plasma cleaning, and is home to popular ASYMTEK, MARCH, and SELECT product lines.
- Test & Inspection is a trusted inspection equipment manufacturer specializing in acoustic, optical, and X-ray inspection and metrology equipment.
- Measurement and Control Solutions is known for its intelligent, connected gauging systems and measuring instruments.
Medical and Fluid Solutions
The divisions in Nordson’s Medical and Fluid Solutions segment not only manufacture critical healthcare components, including medical tubing, catheters, syringes, and fluid connection components, they also develop precision dispensing technology systems.
There are two divisions within this segment:
- Nordson Medical produces high-quality fluid management components and interventional solutions that meet demanding clinical requirements with precision and reliability.
- Nordson EFD develops fluid dispensing machines and equipment, as well as fluid dispensing consumables (such as syringe barrels, dispense tips and needles, mixers, solder paste, and more).
Industrial Precision Solutions
Divisions that fall under the IPS segment specialize in precision dispensing and processing technology for a variety of end markets.
There are multiple divisions within this segment:
- Nordson Packaging manufactures equipment for adhesive dispensing for packaging applications, including case and carton sealing, beverage packaging, tray making and more.
- Nordson Product Assembly develops adhesive dispensing systems for the production of EV batteries, macro-electronic assembly, solar panels, building & construction, home goods, apparel, and more.
- Nordson Nonwovens specializes in precision engineering adhesive dispensing solutions for the production of medical and hygiene disposable products.
- Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions specializes in precision manufacturing powder coating, liquid spray, and container coating solutions.
- Nordson Polymer Processing Systems manufactures extrusion dies, coextrusion feedblocks, melt pumps, pelletizing systems, and more precision manufacturing equipment.
- Nordson Precision Agriculture develops the precision technologies, equipment, and components for smart farming spraying systems.
