Overview
Ensuring all of our employees leave in the same condition as they arrived is the cornerstone of health and safety at Nordson Corporation. Our commitment to safe and healthy working conditions is evident throughout our global operations, as demonstrated by our expansive control systems,
constant monitoring and, most recently, our Journey to Zero initiative.
Nordson Environmental, Health & Safety Journey to Zero Initiative
Nordson is continuously improving our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management System to reflect our focus on the sustainment and progress of our safety culture. New in 2020, we are introducing Journey to Zero, an initiative centered on our respect for people and communities throughout our EHS activities. With a roadmap of key strategies, processes and tools, we drive the importance of workplace safety, environmental compliance, product compliance and sustainability at all our facilities. Our vision is zero adverse impacts to our employees and zero adverse environmental impacts to our community.
We focus on these guiding principles:
- Prioritize our people and the planet. We will support our timeless value of respect for all people by taking initiative in our daily operations.
- Embrace the mindset that all incidents are preventable. We will integrate defensive measures and encourage safe behaviors by proactively identifying risks, hazards and threats.
- Persist for continuous improvement. Journey to Zero is a multi-year focus on an inherently safe and environmentally-friendly workplace. Zero represents an ideal state to which we can measure against and continuously improve.
- Strengthen employee commitment and engagement. Employees at all levels of the organization are responsible for their safety and the safety of those around them. We must be dedicated to working together for a safe, secure and healthy environment for all employees, shareholders, customers and communities.
This vision extends to our contractors and vendors, who are required to read, provide documentation on and sign our Contractor Vendor Safety Program.
