Materials used in the paint shop are typically more robust and commonly abrasive, resulting in Nordson providing specifically designed equipment to create long-term, high-efficiency results.

Interior and Underbody Seam, Hem-Flange, and Roof-Ditch Sealing: push PVC material from containers to double-acting meters called Integrated Servo Dispensers (ISD).

Sound Deadening: supply liquid-applied sound dampener to a Robot-Integrated Pneumatic System.

Anti-Chip: unload anti-chip epoxy from bulk packaging and push the material toward an IPS meter.

Part Complexity: Nordson has a wide range of dispense valves for material application. The Auto-Flo II allows for nozzles of different lengths and orifice sizes to be utilized, while promoting simpler robotic programming capable of different angles and elevation changes.

Process Throughput: Nordson's ability to keep up with the forever-increasing demands of throughput starts with the system selection. The Process Sentry PLC System Controller offers a unique dispensing program that detects when robot speed is increased and makes an adjustment to the flow rate of the material, resulting in a consistent bead.

Power train encompasses any material dispensed on a vehicle’s engine, transmission, axel components, or braking system. Dispensed material acts as a seal to prevent material from escaping a housing or a gasket to ensure components do not leak over time.

Material Curing: This can cause an issue in standard dispense valves that leave the nozzle full of material, with a shutoff point upstream. The Zero-Cavity dispense valve creates a cut-off point at the very tip of the valve. This prevents any air from reaching the residual material, circumventing the nozzle curing issue.

Bead Placement: Bead placement can be in precise grooves, and/or in hard-to-reach areas of a component. Nordson’s extended 2.5-inch extrude nozzles offer reach inside parts while not limiting valve capability. The breakaway between the nozzle and the valve allows for a part to be bumped and the nozzle to break out of position, preventing damage of the part. For longer reaches, a Zero-Cavity valve can be used with a 3.5-inch stem.

Nordson's suite of precision dispensing products cater to the full range of final assembly applications, including glass priming and bonding and automotive lighting.

Glass Priming: The priming of windshields, rear windows, and fixed quarter panels of windows is done in fast succession to ensure no debris or containment is removed. The Flow-Through Felt priming unit has a reel of specifically designed priming felt; once a section of felt is used, the felt reel indexes and introduces a new, unsoiled patch of felt to ensure it's always fresh and the primer is hitting the glass appropriately.

Glass Bonding: Nordson's Rhino Unloaders and Pneumatic Unloaders can generate up to 5,000 psi on the thick urethane material and deliver it to the Pro-Meter S PLC, that offers high torque and RPMs, ensuring material is delivered through the non-restrictive, high-flow CE20 dispense valve.
