A Time to Give - Nordson Raises More Than $1 Million for Our Communities

At Nordson, we have a proud history of giving back to the communities where we live and work. Since our company's inception, it's been a core belief of our founders and employees that we have a social responsibility to share our success with the communities where we operate. As we grow, we're able to positively impact more people each year. 

This past year, Nordson employees in the United States came together to shatter previous donation records for our Time to Give campaign, which supports the Nordson Corporation Foundation, United Way and other local non-profits. With Nordson Corporation's match, we raised a total of $1,108,121 for our communities.

Ohio

Employees at Nordson's headquarters in Westlake raised $54,961 and our Amherst location raised $146,333. Their campaign included a wide variety of events and four donation drives in support of local non-profits, including Second Harvest Food Bank, The Friendship Animal Protective League, Blessing House (a children's crisis care center) and Big Brothers Big Sisters, among others. Beyond raising money, more than 100 employees volunteered their time to walk dogs from the humane society, make blankets and care packages for homeless children, run a blood drive with the American Red Cross and deliver appreciation packages to teachers at local schools.

California

Our Carlsbad location raised $146,677 this year, a record amount and nearly double what they raised last year. The team raised funds through a barbecue and a raffle, but the major highlight of their campaign was hosting their first golf tournament. That single event raised more than $30,000! Employees in California also participated in a food distribution through Feeding San Diego, made 50 blankets for homeless children through Project Night Night and led STEM projects for children in the North County Lifeline La Casita after-school program.

Colorado

Nordson employees in Colorado also doubled their donations compared to last year and raised $7870. Highlights of their campaign included a driving tournament, several lucrative games of Bingo and an exceedingly popular dunk tank event that let employees pay $10 to dunk their managers. The team also collected toiletry items for donation to the local Salvation Army. 

Georgia

Despite what this team called "unforeseen climate changes" – aka Hurricane Irma – Nordson employees in Georgia managed to stand strong and give back. Nordson's Swainsboro location raised $10,338 and employees in Duluth raised $64,352.

Since many were impacted by the hurricane, the team directed its fundraiser dollars to the American Red Cross' hurricane relief efforts. In addition, they helped package more than 150,000 dried meals for local communities in need.

New Jersey

Nordson employees in Robbinsville endured Hurricane Maria, so they chose to donate to the Save The Children Hurricane Maria Relief Fund. Their team of just 33 employees raised $2,682 through a bake sale, a pot luck lunch and a raffle for prizes donated by company suppliers. On top of those events, the team volunteered in cooperation with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen to pack 500 lunches and weekend meals for local families in need. 

Rhode Island

East Providence employees raised $15,865 with an 80's themed campaign. Their campaign itinerary had a packed schedule, including a Pac-Man tournament, costume contest, bake sale, silent auction and plenty more. They held a contest as part of the fundraiser too, so each cartridge employees filled with plastic pellets meant Srini Subramanian, VP, GM Nordson EFD, would have to don another piece of the Pac-Man suit pictured.

Wisconsin

Employees in Chippewa Falls raised $6,171 in support of three local organizations. The donations helped the Chippewa Falls Police Department purchase a K9 unit to aid the drug task force. They supported the Chippewa River Industries in providing job training for the developmentally disabled, and they contributed to Hope Village, an organization that builds and manages tiny homes for those in need of shelter. Some of the donations went toward the team's Community Affairs Fund as well, to be added to the grant allowance for Wisconsin.
