Concord, CA, July 20, 2009 – Nordson MARCH, the global leader in advanced plasma cleaning systems, announced today that it has received orders for multiple plasma systems from several major semiconductor packaging and assembly customers located in Asia.
The orders include both automated plasma systems such as the FlexTRAK-CD plasma system for processing organic semiconductor strips and metal lead frames, and manually-loaded plasma systems like the large batch-type AP-1000 plasma system.
“Our market share for advanced plasma cleaning systems for semiconductor packaging and assembly applications continues to grow, even during these challenging economic times,” said James Getty, Director of Applications and Business Development for Nordson MARCH. Nordson MARCH continues to offer the right product mix, the right plasma performance, and the right price-point to serve our customers, both new and established, in this market.”
Nordson MARCH-brand plasma systems are utilized for semiconductor device packaging and assembly applications such as surface cleaning, surface activation, and removal of organic, metal or oxide contamination. Plasma processes include treatment before wire bonding, before die attach, before molding and encapsulation, and before Flip Chip underfill material dispensing. Plasma treatments from Nordson MARCH greatly improve wire bond pull and shear strength, increase die adhesion to the substrate, prevent delamination of encapsulation material, and improve the performance of Flip Chip underfill liquid. The resulting semiconductor devices are more reliable and have fewer failures.
