New Ink Supply Design Allows Easier, Cleaner Operation of the

26 Apr 2010

AMHERST, OH, April 27, 2010 – Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ-NDSN) introduces an enhanced reservoir manifold assembly design on its Ink-Dot Spray Machine Identification System  that alleviates the mess typically associated with the ink supply vessel.

The new assembly design eliminates sludge build-up inside the reservoir.  In addition, simple visual indication of the ink level alerts an operator of the need to replenish the ink supply.  Replenishing the system is fast and easy, using the same bottle in which the ink is supplied. The manifold assembly fits standard size ink bottles.

The Nordson Ink-Dot identification system is designed to improve process monitoring and problem resolution by enabling quick identification and traceability to a malfunctioning spray machine on the coating line. The system applies a small, inconspicuous dot of ink onto the bottom of each can as it enters or exits the spray machine.  A different ink color is used for each machine on the line, so  one can immediately identify which machine is the source of unacceptable coating.

The new Ink-Dot reservoir assembly is an improved device for supplying ink to the Ink-Dot System, resulting in less mess, clear visualization of ink levels, and easy replacement and refill of ink into the system.   This enables canmakers to better utilize the Nordson Ink-Dot I.D. System to apply a “spray dot”, resulting in simple color-coding of each spray machine for traceability and faster resolution of spray problems.  Enamel-rater and metal exposure tests can be performed on production cans eliminating the need to stop production to run test cans.  In addition, other spray-related problems (such as necker problems) that occur further down the manufacturing process can be traced back to the problem source by utilizing the Ink-Dot I.D. System.
