April 19, 2010 East Providence, RI USA – Nordson EFD (Nasdaq: NDSN) has introduced a new packaging system to improve productivity and reduce costs in the global adhesives market, estimated to exceed $30.5 billion in 2010.
The 3-part system includes cartridges to contain adhesive, innovative self-sealing cartridge pistons, and a fast cost-effective piston inserter.
Nordson EFD's popular 50mL side x side cartridges are now more robust for better performance, and supplied with end plugs conveniently preinstalled to save time and effort. For faster, easier piston insertion, the lead-in at the top of the cartridge is increased.
The new 50mL and 200mL AF pistons feature a unique design that quickly bleeds out residual air as they are inserted into filled cartridges. This saves manufacturers and packagers additional time and effort by eliminating extra steps to insert shims or bleed plugs during packaging to prevent air from being trapped between the piston and material. The resulting airtight, leakproof seal ensures safe shipment, long shelf life and predictable product performance.
Our new Atlas 2K Piston Inserters give adhesive packagers a fast, convenient and cost-effective way to install the new AF pistons. They will bleed air properly even when fill levels of A and B components are unequal, permitting any operator to install pistons perfectly every time without time-consuming rework. Optional kits increase versatility by allowing the 50mL Inserter to handle 200mL cartridges, and the 200mL Inserter to handle 50ml cartridges.
