Nordson ASYMTEK offers coating and dispensing systems for a variety of applications for the manufacturing of fuel cells.
Coating fuel cell membranes, gas diffusion layers, and backing plates with catalyst inks or carbon particle suspensions are performed using Asymtek’s coating process. The Nordson ASYMTEK process can incorporate a variety of coating/dispensing technologies, depending upon the desired results.
When coating small areas (<10cm2), only Asymtek can give you the DispenseJet® coating process. Two models, the DJ-9500 or DJ-100, will deliver exceptional coating quality through film thickness control and edge definition. The non-contact jet dispensing ensures that coating materials are dispensed within specific size and tolerance limits.
Large membrane areas (>10cm2) are coated quickly with desired thicknesses and edge definition when using the DispenseJet DJ-2200. This coating technology employs the non-contact jetting with a unique co-axial air applicator. The result is the ability to coat small or large areas with speed and control.
Another exclusive Asymtek feature is Mass Flow Calibration (MFC). MFC uses the integrated balance scale to control metal loading. MFC closes the loop around the coating process to ensure proper metal loading. MFC is a software control and automatically measures and adjusts the materials during the production process. MFC also lets you set control limits (for specific parameters) and can stop the process before making scrap.
