2009 Accomplishments
- Established a monthly employee Green Committee
- Created and communicated the Asymtek Green Policy
- Joined Climate Savers as an "Affiliate Member“ under the Computer and Server Buyers plan
- Provided recycle bins throughout the facility to collect metal, electronic waste, paper, cardboard, glass and plastics
- Changed water cups from plastic to recyclable paper
- Re-lamped outside lights from 180w to 92w
- Re-lamped inside lights from 32w to 25w
- Installed motion sensors in the Fab Shop and Tradeshow warehouse
- We have reduced our 2008 vs. 2009 kWh/day usage by 11.2%!
- Developed the Fids-on-the-Fly™ option which is up to 5.5X faster than the traditional stop-and-capture mode for locating fiducials. Reducing time spent
- performing this essential, non-dispense routine can increase UPH as much as 35 percent.
- Shipping materials:
- Changed to corrugated cardboard boxes which is100% recycled content
- Changed from packing peanuts to 100% recycled packaging paper
- Changed to corrugated plastic that is reusable
- Bubble wrap was eliminated---Inflatable air packs used for consolidated shipments
- Using foam that has 70% recycled content
- Changed all labels to stamps
- All leased copiers, printers, faxes, scanners, etc have been replaced with Energy Star (*Version 1.1) rated equipment. (*Version 1.1 equipment is 14%)
- More energy efficient than current Energy Star Version 1.0 rated models.)
- Participated in the Surfrider Foundation Beach Cleanup
- Participated in the 25th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day
- Started monthly employee newsletter to suggest ideas on recycling and conservation
