Northview High School - FIRST Robotics Competition

Nordson Adhesives Division provided both financial support and mentors to the Peachtree Regional Robotics Competition first-place champ Northview Techno Titans (Johns Creek, Georgia).  This robotics competition is part of an international program to promote science, math and technology to high school students.  As part of a three-team alliance in a psuedo soccer-style game called Breakaway, Northview helped their alliance collect the most soccer balls in their goal.  The regional winner was supposed to be a best of three games series but actually had to be decided with a fourth-game tie breaker.

In addition to winning the competition, the Northview robot won the Xerox Creativity Award for “creative design, use of a component or unique strategy of play.”

Approximately a dozen Northview High students comprised the Techno Titans.  The Nordson mentors included Pete Estelle, Howard Evans, Arie Greenberg and Raymond Persaud with additional support from Aaron Gould and John Fritz.

Next up for the region-winning team is the International FIRST Robotics Championships to be held at the Georgia Dome and World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia on April 15-17, 2010.
