Nordson Corporation Names Lise W. Duran To Lead Micromedics Organization

  • Industry veteran brings company 20 years of expertise in medical technology markets

Westlake, Ohio, USA – February 15, 2011 – Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) today announced the appointment of Lise W. Duran to the position of General Manager of the  company’s Micromedics operation, a leading provider of biomaterial applicators used in a wide variety of medical procedures.

Duran joins Micromedics with over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry having held several positions of increasing responsibility at SurModics, Inc., a leading provider of surface modification coating and drug delivery technologies to the healthcare industry.  Duran’s comprehensive background includes leadership roles as Vice President of Research, Vice President & General Manager Regenerative Technologies Business Unit, Vice President In Vitro Technologies Business Unit, Vice President of Product Development and Director of Microbiology.  She holds a Ph.D in Cellular Immunology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, a BS in Microbiology from the University of Maryland, and was also a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Nordson acquired St. Paul, Minnesota based Micromedics in November 2010.  The company is a leader in applying and dispensing biomaterials for controlling bleeding, healing wounds and other related medical procedures.  Micromedics’ FibriJet branded bioapplicator products include single and dual syringe applicators modified with interchangeable tips for the particular needs of specific surgical procedures.  The products enable the controlled dispense of a single material or simultaneous dispense of two materials to a localized treatment site with simple, one-handed operation.  The products are sold to a wide variety of end customers, including distributors, surgeons, OEMs, hospitals and outpatient clinics.
