Nordson Corporation and Nordson Corporation Foundation Give $1.4 Million to Charity

WESTLAKE, Ohio –  December 22, 2005 –    Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) today announced that it contributed $1.43 million to charity during its 2005 fiscal year. As part of Nordson Corporation’s operating philosophy, the company contributes 5 percent of domestic, pretax earnings to charitable causes. The donations were provided to nonprofit organizations in U.S. communities where the company has major operations. Grants from the Nordson Corporation Foundation accounted for slightly more than $734,000 of the total amount awarded.  

Nordson Corporation Foundation provided grants in four broad categories: arts and culture, civic affairs, education and human welfare. Education was the largest giving area, with $338,000 in grants supporting educational causes, a top priority for the Foundation’s giving. Grantmaking in the three other focus areas was as follows: 

    Arts and culture - $102,000 
    Civic affairs - $72,000 
    Human welfare - $222,000  

“Giving back to the community is ingrained in the Nordson culture and is a cornerstone of our corporate philosophy,” said Edward P. Campbell, Nordson’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We are proud to be able to contribute to making our communities better places to live and work, through both our dollars and our numerous volunteer efforts.”  

The Nordson Corporation Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and programs within the U.S. communities where the company’s major facilities are located: Lorain and Cuyahoga counties in Ohio; the greater Atlanta, Georgia, area; San Diego County in California; and East Providence, Rhode Island. Nordson’s other philanthropic endeavors include a matching gift program, an employee volunteer program, contributions to local United Way campaigns and partnerships with schools in Ohio and Georgia.

In 1988, the original foundation was reorganized to create the Nord Family Foundation and the Nordson Corporation Foundation.
