Nordson Chooses to Restrict the Use of Select Hazardous Materials in All its Future Products

WESTLAKE, Ohio –  August 19, 2005 –    Nordson Corporation  (Nasdaq:NDSN) today nnounced that it has met the compliance deadline for the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive. The directive, adopted by the European Union in January 2003, mandates the collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment by July 2005.

In accordance with the WEEE directive, Nordson has identified and labeled its products that are affected by the regulations. Nordson also has developed a strategy to support recycling of the electrical and electronic equipment and has created a section on its Web site, www.nordson.com, to provide customers with information on how to return WEEE-labeled products for proper recycling.

“We believe that Nordson’s role as a good corporate citizen requires taking responsibility to protect the environment and communities in the 30 countries around the world where we conduct business,” said Edward P. Campbell, chairman and chief executive officer of Nordson.    “We completely support the European Union’s efforts to recycle electrical and electronic equipment and to reduce the amount of waste that it generates,” Campbell added.
