Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) recently received ISO 9001:2008 certificates for their adhesive dispensing equipment development and production facilities in Duluth, GA and Swainsboro, GA, valid for the design and manufacture of equipment for packaging, adhesive, sealant, and product assembly applications. The certificates, awarded by the independent agency Det Norske Vertitas (DNV), are renewed every three years and continue the Nordson facilities’ uninterrupted ISO certification since 1994.
“Quality, safety and customer satisfaction are of the utmost concern for us,” says Jim DeVries, corporate vice president, global continuous improvement at Nordson. “So, we invest the time and effort required to have our products and processes certified by globally recognized organizations like DNV and UL (Underwriters Laboratories). We believe that is a key difference between Nordson and our competitors.”
“Nearly all of our equipment used in consumer products packaging are UL listed and the vast majority of individual components carry the UL mark. UL is recognized by OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) for product safety testing. In addition, we of course, follow CE directives as our products made in and shipped from Duluth and Swainsboro are used around the world.”
ISO 9001:2008, which sets international requirements for quality management systems, is globally recognized as the standard for providing assurance about the ability to satisfy quality benchmarks and to enhance customer satisfaction in supplier-customer relationships. ISO 9001 addresses an organization’s ability to meet both its customers’ and regulatory requirements, but it also assesses the company’s achievement of continual overall improvement in ISO objectives.
