RoHS and WEEE Compliance
Nordson Corporation supports the European Union’s efforts to recycle electrical and electronic equipment and to reduce the waste that it generates. All Nordson products and its brands have been evaluated. Effective 13 August 2005, Nordson products regulated by the Waste Electronics and Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Directive will be compliant. Regulated products have been tagged to indicate that they adhere to the guideline.
All of Nordson’s business operations in Europe, including the European sale of products manufactured outside of Europe will be compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive by July 2006. The RoHS directive restricts the use of six substances in the future design of WEEE regulated equipment. The six substances are Lead, Hexavalent Chromium, Mercury, Polybrominated Biphenyls, Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers, and Cadmium. There are provisions for the limited use of these materials (0.1% by weight in most cases, 0.01% by weight for Cadmium). However, Nordson will strive to eliminate any use of these materials in future product designs.
The Nordson team will be working to ensure compliance within each of our businesses as well as the supply chain. We will assist customers as necessary during the transition.
