UV Curing for Plastic Containers

A complete line of UV systems provides thorough, controllable curing for a variety of plastic container applications.

Nordson offers a wide range of UV curing systems that provide efficient, reliable curing to meet most any production need. Products include microwave-powered units in varying lengths, single-lamp and double concentrated focus (DCF) electrode systems, and water-cooled systems. Nordson UV capabilities provide a UV curing option to accommodate various heat sensitivity and line speed requirements. Our experts will work with you to assess the specific application requirements and determine which UV curing solution will best suit your production needs.

For heat sensitive substrates and systems where the lamp cycles on and off frequently, Nordson CoolWave® Systems maximize efficiency, providing up to 600 watts of power per inch. For other applications, electrode units that offer up to 500 watts per inch with a single lamp and 1,000 watts per inch with DCF lamps are available. For the ultimate in heat control, water-cooled Monocure systems are also available.

Nordson UV and plastics industry specialists take an objective approach to your plastics manufacturing operation.

Available Bulb Types
Nordson UV curing systems are available with a complete range of fully interchangeable mercury and metal halide lamp alternatives, offering the ultimate performance with all material chemistries.

Mercury:  One of the most commonly used lamps and frequently referred to as “H” bulb, this lamp delivers a good broad-band output across all wavelengths.

Mercury +: Frequently referred to as an “H+” bulb, this   lamp is similar in output to the mercury bulb, but with enhanced emission in the shorter UVC wavelengths.

Mercury Iron: Frequently referred to as a “D” bulb, this lamp is rich in UVA output.

Mercury Indium:  Commonly known as the “Q” bulb, this lamp delivers strong performance in the UVV wavelengths up to 450 nm.

Mercury Gallium:  Also referred to as a “V” bulb, this lamp is a strong performer in the UVV range. It delivers excellent output in the 405 nm to 420 nm wavelengths.
