UV curable inks and varnishes used for most external decoration dry virtually instantly when exposed to UV light. This significantly increases throughput while reducing labor and energy requirements.
Inter-deck and end-of-press curing systems are available, and can be configured with either air- or water-cooled lamps for maximum efficiency. Requiring a minimal amount of space – often only six feet – they are easily retrofit and installed, and simplify maintenance.
- Inter-deck lamps provide dry trapping by curing the inks between print stations, providing sharper edge definition between colors and a higher quality decoration.
- Set-stack curing systems assure that all inks and coatings applied inter-station are completely cured as the sheets exit the press.
- Air-cooled UV systems can be installed on the infeed of the printing deck to enable “wet on dry” printing depending on press configuration.
- Water-cooled UV lamp systems offer a significantly smaller, more compact lamphead with greater UV output power per lamp.
