Primarc UV Curing Lamps manufactures an extensive range of medium-pressure mercury arc lamps suitable for all known UV curing systems. Offering outstanding performance, the lamps provide exceptionally good service life and consistent UV output.
Primarc UV curing lamps are used worldwide for the curing of inks and coatings in the printing, packaging and labeling industries, as well as in a wide range of industrial environments including CD/DVD manufacture, fiber optic cable production, wood products, and electronics.
All Primarc UV curing lamps are manufactured from high-clarity, vitreous silica, normally referred to as quartz. Quartz has the property of high-transparency to ultraviolet light, particularly at the shortwave end of the spectrum where over 90% of the UV energy generated is transmitted through the quartz. Electrode components are manufactured using the highest-quality materials, ensuring long and reliable lamp life.
The Primarc Quality Standard ensures that each lamp is not only manufactured to the most stringent of specifications, but also lamp performance is consistent each time, every time.
Metal Halide Lamps
In addition to a broad range of medium pressure mercury arc lamps, Primarc is continuously developing a series of spectrally enhanced metal halide versions.
Metal halide lamps are mercury vapor lamps with metal halide additives which create specific wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation to precision-match the photo-initiator being cured. The addition of metal halides creates a shift in the spectral output of a standard lamp, producing longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths enable a greater depth of cure to be achieved, making them particularly useful in the curing of pigmented and thicker coatings.
Metal halide lamps are increasingly used in the printing industry, as well as in many industrial applications such as the production of printed circuit boards, electronic components, fiber optic cables, CDs/DVDs, and wood products.
Since 1970 Primarc has played a leading role in UV lamp development. The Primarc team is dedicated to providing design and manufacturing support to end-users and OEMs worldwide. Our R&D department works constantly with a range of companies to develop new applications for UV curing and improve existing products.
With over 30 years experience in UV technology, Primarc UV Technology is one of the world’s longest serving manufacturers of UV curing lamps. During this time, our technical expertise, manufacturing processes, and repeatability of lamp performance have reached a standard that has become the benchmark across the globe.
Technical Specification
Primarc UV curing lamps are manufactured in lengths from 10 cm to more than 371 cm and currently at power outputs of up to 500 Watts per cm (1270 Watts per inch).
Primarc has a complete range of originally designed lamps, or if required, lamps can be designed to meet customers’ specific requirements.

A mercury-vapor lamp has the spectral output shown in Figure 1.
For applications where a different wavelength of UV is required, the spectral output of a standard lamp can be shifted to different wavelengths by using energy transfer from the mercury atoms within the arc to another material added during manufacture. The spectra of two typical spectrally-enhanced lamps are shown in Fig. 2 and 3.
While Primarc manufactures lamps for almost all UV curing systems, it is important to identify the specific lamp for your UV drying system. Please complete the Lamp Identification Sheet so that an equivalent lamp can be identified.
