Primarc is a leading supplier of ultraviolet (UV) curing lamps having been involved in the UV industry since 1970. From factories located in Slough, England, and Phillipsburg, NJ, Primarc supplies to original equipment manufacturers and end-users worldwide. Primarc manufactures an extensive range of Medium Pressure Mercury Arc Lamps which are hand crafted from high clarity vitreous silica (quartz) and produce high-intensity UV radiation. Primarc’s lamps are used in a variety of UV curing applications including commercial and label printing, paper, wood, glass and plastic finishing, metal decorating, fiberoptic coating, CD/DVD manufacturing and electronics. Primarc's research and development department works constantly to develop new uses for UV curing and improve existing products, while our continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing procedures ensure we provide an unrivaled level of service to the industry.

Electrode Lamps
Primarc UV lamps are hand-crafted from the highest quality materials and warranted for 1,000 hours of useful curing life*. Even after this length of time, the lamps are typically capable of delivering 80% of their original output with proper attention during installation and operation. The highest quality quartz is used to manufacture the lamp. The electrodes and connections are made of tungsten and molybdenum to ensure efficiency, durability and reliability. Recognizing the many specific applications of our clients, we can manufacture lamp fittings to meet all individual needs.

We have an enviable record of success in being able to resolve our customers’ most difficult technical issues. Specialty equipment manufacturers have come to rely on Primarc to develop lamps for their complex applications. Primarc is a company able to produce a UV lamp to meet virtually any demand; our medium-pressure mercury arc lamps are proven to give reliable curing, high efficiency and long life. Primarc also manufactures a broad range of IR lamps for accelerated drying purposes and cooling tubes for a variety of filtered systems. 

In addition to an extensive range of medium pressure mercury arc lamps, Primarc is continuously developing a series of spectrally enhanced metal halide versions.

Metal halide lamps are mercury vapor lamps with metal halide additives, which create specific wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation to precision-match the photo-initiator being cured. The addition of metal halides creates a shift in the spectral output of a standard lamp, producing longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths enable a greater depth of cure to be achieved, making them particularly useful in the curing of pigmented and thicker coatings.

Metal halide lamps are increasingly used in the printing industry as well as in a wide variety of industrial applications such as the production of printed circuit boards, electronic components, fibre optic cables, CDs/DVDs, and wood products.

Electrodeless Lamps
Primarc has developed an electrodeless microwave bulb, for use in industries such as fiberoptic coating, electronics, compact disc and DVD manufacture, plastic container decorating, liquid finishing, two-piece can manufacture, graphic arts and general industrial applications.

The standard bulb has a mercury/gas fill, however, as with Primarc electrode lamps, the spectral distribution can be modified by the addition of special metal halides.

In addition to manufacturing an extensive range of ultraviolet curing lamps, Primarc™ UV Technology also supplies high quality replacement quartz cooling tubes for both water-cooled and air-cooled systems.
