Duluth, Georgia - August, 1998 - The new Seal Sentry™ from Nordson (Nasdaq-NDSN) examines hot melt beads on a carton including those compressed between flaps, helping deliver a properly sealed package every time. Online sensors check five conditions: beads drifting off target, missing beads, irregularly shaped beads, bead proportions after compression, and bead placement measured through substrate flaps.

You set the tolerance level that defines system or package failure. Tight tolerances generate early warning signals useful in preventing unscheduled downtime. Larger deviations keep production levels high yet verify quality of the package seal.

Applications include real-time management of package sealing standards; seal validation of pharmaceutical and medical packaging; quality assurance of food and beverage packaging; and quick testing of new substrates, new adhesives, new vendor's supplies, or new package designs. Also, the Seal Sentry provides immediate feedback on new machinery or modified maintenance procedures affecting box sealing quality.

Nordson Corporation designs, manufactures and markets systems that apply adhesives, sealants and coatings to consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations. Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, Nordson has direct operations in 34 countries and more than 4,000 employees worldwide.
