Facility Safety
|
Nordson is committed to providing a safe environment for its visitors and employees with a goal of zero accidents.
- Plant visitors are given a brief safety orientation before facility tours are conducted. The orientation includes general safety guidelines while in the plant, basic rules and a description of evacuation locations. Visitors, vendors and employees must wear safety glasses while in the laboratory and manufacturing locations, along with safety footwear when working in exposed environments.
- Volunteer employees serve on the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and are always on call. The ERT program includes special training for basic first aid, CPR and procedures for a wide range of plant emergencies. These individuals carry emergency radios and assist management with emergency evacuation procedures.
- Employee education programs include yearly training in OSHA programs, including hazard communications, personal protection equipment, lock-out/tag-out, and blood-borne pathogens.
- Nordson sponsors and financially supports employee purchase of safety shoes and prescription safety glasses. All visitors are provided with a pair of safety glasses and encouraged to take them for use outside the Nordson environment. Disposable hearing protection is readily available in noisy areas.
- Any liquid or solid material entering the building must be accompanied by a MSDS sheet or have one on file with the safety director. MSDS catalogs are located in strategic storage areas and the shipping/receiving department for review.
