DULUTH, Georgia - April 15, 2008 - Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq – NDSN) is demonstrating a range of variation management options for disposable hygiene product manufacturers at INDEX 08, the world’s leading nonwovens exhibit. These solutions, which can help users achieve substantial cost savings by reducing adhesives add-on usage by between five and 25 percent depending on the option selected, can also significantly improve product consistency and feel.

Variation management solutions available from Nordson include a Pressure Build option that leverages applicator pressure transducer feedback during stoppage times to minimize start-up pressure spikes and maintain consistent pressure between Nordson’s line of VersaBlue™ IPC melters and pressure-fed applicators.
Nordson also offers manufacturers the option of a remote adhesives metering station, connected to a pressure-fed applicator by a short hot-melt hose. By moving the metering point closer to the point of application, this option can help manufacturers better control pressure spikes.
Nordson’s Universal™ Slice gear metering applicator, with integrated motor-driven gear pumps, brings the metering of adhesive directly to the point of application, offering both pressure control and individual metering for each applicator module and nozzle, effectively addressing both start-up variation and cross-web distribution variation.
