DAWSONVILLE, Georgia - March 28, 2006 - The new CTL 4640 coater from Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq – NDSN) enhances the company’s global laboratory capabilities to help customers accurately qualify nonwovens and web coating applications, hot melt adhesives and substrates in a controlled environment.
The CTL 4640 coater handles diverse customer demonstration and development trials at Nordson facilities in Dawsonville, Georgia, USA, and Lüneburg, Germany.
The coater provides coating and laminating on a variety of substrates or their combinations, including nonwovens, films, foams, fabrics, tapes, labels and elastics. Operating at line speeds up to 600 meters per minute with a maximum coating width of 350 millimeters, the coater features modular back plates and rollers that reposition to accommodate different substrates and web-path routing requirements.
A graphical user interface replicates production conditions, and an advanced tension control system provides ramp-up and ramp-down throughout the full line speed range without negatively affecting substrates.
To meet individual end-product requirements, the coater accepts numerous contact and non-contact Nordson hot melt adhesive dispensing technologies. These include the EP51 slot applicator; Speed-Coat® high-speed intermittent slot applicator; and Universal™ applicators with CF®, Summit™, SureWrap™, Control Coat®, meltblown spray or bead nozzles.
The CTL 4640 coater at the laboratory in Germany includes additional coating capabilities that include a non-contact curtain coat slot applicator; and contact BC40, Porous Coat®, EP series, and TrueCoat™ slot applicators. It is also equipped with a QuadCure™ system for ultraviolet-curable hot melt adhesives.
