DAWSONVILLE, Georgia - April 18, 2003 -The non-contact wide-web laminating system from Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq - NDSN) provides accurate control and delivery of hot melt adhesives with low adhesive add-on weights. A selection of die widths and patterns meets specific lamination requirements for the wide-web production of tissues and towels, nonwovens surgical drapes and gowns, textiles, disposable backsheets and filtration media.
Metered delivery produces adhesive add-on weights as low as 0.05 gsm, leaving no visible adhesive residue and reducing adhesive usage. This invisible bonding creates high-loft tissues and towels with softness of hand. Adhesive lamination of tissues and towels permits higher line speeds than knurling methods by equalizing tension between layers. Efficient adhesive deposition provides excellent drape, breathability, filtration and softness for spunbond, meltblown, foam and textile fabrics in different combinations.
The system's non-contact design eliminates web breaks caused by applicator contact. Long-life Universal™ modules allow flexibility in dispensing bead, swirl, slot coating and meltblown patterns. Modules feature quick-change capability to minimize downtime. Standard die widths are available from 30 to 139 inches (0.76 to 3.53 meters).
