DAWSONVILLE, Georgia - April 16, 2002 - The Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq - NDSN) family of Universal modules accommodates all Nordson spray technologies, including Summit™, Controlled Fiberization™, meltblown and bead and dot applicators in a single platform, eliminating the need for application specific module designs.
The simplistic, single platform design minimizes spare parts requirements, reducing inventory costs. Dies are easily changed by a single screw clamp mechanism for fast and easy changeovers.
Universal modules include pneumatically actuated 2-way designs for pressure-fed applications, 3-way designs for use with Universal Slice™ metering applicators and electrically actuated designs for the most demanding intermittent applications.
The UM400 for pressure-fed applications uses the latest Nordson valve technology. This module offers twice the cycle life of the previous standard CF 200-based module. With its smaller adhesive chamber between the needle tip and nozzle, the UM400 improves cutoff, limiting adhesive drool.
The UM3 for metering applications uses a twin-seat design, enabling adhesive to be dispensed or returned to the pump inlet. The air-open/air-close operation delivers module actuation consistency and the unique snuff-back feature helps ensure clean cutoff.
The ES-400U accommodates demanding, high-speed intermittent spray, bead and dot applications. Using the most current electrically actuated technology, the ES-400U accurately dispenses adhesives at speeds up to 3,600 cycles per minute with durations of less than 1 millisecond. The applicator also delivers superior repeatability of + 1 millimeter at 300 meters per minute (1,000 feet per minute) for exceptional pattern control and consistency and superior repeatability.
